imagine a car crash between rothko and pollock. cezanne cries in a corner. the scene, smudged in the rain.

how two experienced improvisers work at a distance, in different countries.

'écart de sons' - the acoustic duo of winds and piano goes back a long way and developed through performing jazz and improv gigs in the south of france.
after years of collaboration we decided to create something different. this album was recorded and composed during lockdown as file exchange between france and the uk.

it all started with henry recording free improvisations at home on trombone and piano. i sculpted the material with digital scalpel, cut up and arranged the improvisations to create space and dynamic flow to which I added my own instrumentation. with a bit of electronic magic, some field recordings, and alto sax, i soon had four electroacoustic pieces.

modern jazz meets electronic music, sprinkled with spectral contemporary minimalism, asmr glitch noise, freeflow, full with sampling, processing and sound design as well as some deep electronic grooves.
